About Menorca Cruising School
At Menorca Cruising School we specialise
in RYA courses for beginners, families and novice skippers. Mahon
Harbour provides 3.5 miles of sheltered waters which are perfect
for getting a feel for the yacht. We can then set out to explore
more than 40 sheltered coves around the island's 80 miles circumference.
We are very used to mixed ability teaching and partners with differing
abilities can take different courses on the same yacht. |

Menorca
Cruising School
Menorca Cruising School was the first RYA sailing school to be
established in the Mediterranean. Mahon Harbour is the perfect
base for non-tidal sailing training, offering good weather and
excellent sailing for both beginners and experienced sailors.
Principal - John Davies
In January 2007 John Davies took over as Principal of Menorca
Cruising School. John has been resident on Menorca for 8 years.
He is very conscious that any school is only as good as its instructors.
To this end, MCS instructors are carefully selected to ensure
they have the most important qualities of patience, good humour
and a professional outlook. They are chosen from experienced backgrounds
which bring a highly professional approach to the training.

Pere
Valera - RYA
Ocean Yachtmaster Instructor
Pere is Menorca Cruising School's highly
popular Chief Instructor. He has sailed extensively around the
world and has several Atlantic crossings in his log book. In 2006
he was Skipper on Menorca Cruising's Winter Program which involved
passages from Menorca to the Caribbean via Gibraltar, Cran Canaria,
Cape Verve Islands and Antigua. Pere has been sailing around Menorca
since he was a child and therefore has extensive knowledge of
the coastline and local winds.
One of Pere's other talents is a love of cooking. You will be
sure of a mouthwatering Mediterranean lunch on any of his courses. |

| "On behalf of the four of us (Dave,
Tim, Graham and myself) I just wanted to thank you for an excellent
week's sailing .. what made it particularly special was our instructor.
Dave blended calm assurance with breadth of knowledge, and we all
benefited from his enormous experience. On top of that he was warm
and friendly and an excellent sea-going companion! Please pass on
our thanks to Dave for a very enjoyable and memorable week."

| “I just wanted to write and pass on my
thank you to Menorca Cruising for the excellent week I had with
the crew and Pere aboard Vivacity. Pere is an amazing skipper and
taught us far more than just how to sail through his stories and
his lunches were incredible!!” Sharron Ranby |
| “I just wanted to say that Pere was an
excellent instructor - well able to cope with our son Andrew when
he was tired - and he took us a bit further than the syllabus, which
we appreciated. Although we've been sailing for a long time, Pere
honed the skills we don’t use in our local cruising area.
I would definitely recommend Menorca Cruising to anybody. Thank
you again for a superb week” the Banks family |
