Designed for:
Those with at least 15 days (2 as skipper), 300 nautical miles and 8 night hours and who now wish to skipper on longer coastal and offshore passages by day and night. Students should also be up to Day Skipper standard both practical and theory.
Our Aim:
To considerably advance your skippering techniques and navigation (use of sextant and G.P.S.); to enjoy realistic passage planning tailored to crew enjoyment and capabilities; to improve confidence in yacht handling in confined spaces under power and sail, to discuss heavy weather sailing techniques and emergency situations.
Program:
Five days exploring Menorca and East and North-East Mallorca, including an overnight passage.
Remarks:
This course is not only instructive and fun but a gastronomic delight due to our skippers' extensive knowledge of excellent restaurants serving Catalan cooking. Food is not included on courses C.S. and S.C. to enable the students to victual the yacht to their own tastes and budget and is run on the usual kitty basis (to include enough for the skipper! food and mooring fees).

The RYA have decided to allow all Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Examinations to be taken at 'Recognised Teaching Establishments' in the Mediterranean. They no longer have to be taken in Tidal Waters.
Menorca Cruising School have put together a carefully thought out 6 day pre-prep course (4 days) and examination (1/2 days) for both Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster offshore.

Course "C.Y.P." RYA/DOT Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Prep.

Designed for:
Experienced sailors wishing to prepare for either the RYA/DOT Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Offshore. Examination by an RYA appointed examiner, the exam. will be taken on the final two days.
Our Aim:
To fill in the gaps in your knowledge and skippering techniques so that you enter the exam. with skill and confidence.
Program:
This course will concentrate on boat handling skills, good skippering psychology, blind navigation, heavy weather techniques and fine tuning skills. There will be no long passages, but it will include night approaches.
Remarks:
The minimum sea time requirement must have been in the last 10 years and at least 50% obtained within tidal waters. Non tidal sea time will count for half.

• Fully qualified professional instruction and all safety equipment.
• Accommodation on board for 4/5 nights.
• Fuel, mooring fees and harbour dues (except charter).
• Loan of lightweight oilskins (not often necessary from May to October).
• Freshly laundered sheets and bedding.
• Spanish VAT at 16%.
